West Bengal
is enriched with a significant wealth of Inland Fishery Resources
as well as Marine Fishery Resources. The Government has taken
many initiatives on formulating and implementing various schemes
for uplifting livelihood of the fishing people and provided required
infrastructure to make their life easy and also more fish production.
The
Fishery Department had taken keen interest in taking up the welfare
measures for both the inland and marine fishermen. Along
with the development of pisciculture, steps were also taken side
by side for creation of infrastructural facilities like construction
of rural roads, housing, rural electrification, tube-wells, community
halls, auditorium etc. in both inland and marine fishing villages.
e-Governance being the tool for sustainable development of fishery
resources, the Department intends to computerize all the major
activities and processes for smoothening their day to day work
and also has
been taking various measures to promote the use of Information
and Communication Technologies (ICTs) .
This portal will facilitate all the stakeholders a single platform
for decision support and information access on and for Fisheries
Development in West Bengal. With a view to provide timely and accurate
data and to minimize data gaps, it has been intended to
develop web based applications which takes care of online facilities
for the following areas initially -

Fishermen's Group Personal Accident Insurance
